Cynthia Tyler
I was born and raised in Southern California. I'm the author of Descanso (Haworth Press, 2005), Shadow Work (Haworth Press, 2006), and Finding Polaris (Yellow Dog Books, 2010). My work has been featured in the online magazine The Baseball Chronicle, and appears in the academic anthology, Queer Girls In Class (Peter Lang Publishing, 2010). Descanso won an Alice B. award and was an Insightout Book Cub selection. I live in the Los Angeles area with my partner Patricia and our two golden retrievers, Athena and Kip. My fourth novel, High Dive, will be released in the summer of 2011.

I wanted creative control over my work and to deliver my novels in a timely manner, rather than the years it takes with an established publisher. In addition, I didn't want to risk the chance that a publisher I signed a contract with would close their doors, as was the case with my previous publisher, Haworth Press. I like the freedom and the responsibility, as well as the opportunity to connect directly to readers.
